Google Ads is turning website offers into advertising assets with less manual intervention. An email sent to some advertisers says automated promotions will be enabled from October 12, 2026. For businesses receiving that notice, the immediate task is to check which deals their websites make available for extraction.
Search Engine Roundtable reports the Google email and describes the activation as opt-out. This is an account notification about an existing feature, rather than evidence that every advertiser worldwide will receive it on the same day.
Which campaigns are eligible?
Google’s official documentation describes website-sourced offers for active Search and Performance Max campaigns with location assets, no running manual promotions, and compliance with advertising policies. Campaigns already running manual promotions are bypassed.
The guide describes enabling the feature through account-level automated assets. The reported email announces automatic activation for its recipients. Advertisers should therefore check their own notice and account settings rather than assume a universal enrollment status.
Google currently limits each automated promotion’s serving eligibility to less than 24 hours, with possible renewal while the offer remains visibly available online. The documentation says extracting promotion start and end dates is a future change.
What to check before October 12
For marketing teams, the practical implication is that website copy becomes part of advertising operations. A banner written for visitors can now supply a promotional message elsewhere. That makes coordination between the people updating the website and those managing campaigns more valuable.
Start with an inventory of visible offers. Check homepages, category pages, product pages and campaign landing pages for old coupons, seasonal banners and promotional text left inside reusable templates. Identify an owner for each offer and decide who removes it when the commercial terms change.
Review the conditions alongside the headline discount. A useful offer page explains which products qualify, whether a minimum spend applies, which locations participate and whether membership is required. An attractive percentage without nearby conditions can leave readers with a different expectation from the one checkout fulfills.
Then test the customer journey. Follow the advertised destination, add an eligible item and check the coupon or discount behavior. Repeat the process for a product excluded from the offer. This is an editorial recommendation for validating the underlying deal, not a claim that Google’s extraction system will interpret every condition correctly.
Where to review or disable the assets
Google identifies these assets in Assets → Promotion, with Google AI in the Added by column. To disable them, open Assets → Account level automated assets → Advanced settings → Automated promotions → Off. Manual uploads remain available for more precise promotional control.
Keep a record of the original website offer, the generated message and the destination page. That comparison helps a team distinguish a stale website promise from an extraction problem. It also provides a clearer basis for deciding whether to retain automation or manage an offer manually.
Why this matters for SEO and AI visibility
This update concerns paid advertising; it does not establish a new organic ranking factor or prove that the same offers will appear in AI answers. Its broader relevance is the growing operational role of public website information: content can be consumed and reused by systems beyond the page where it was published.
For SEO and commerce teams, a sensible response is to treat promotional content as maintained commercial information. Make the offer understandable, keep its terms consistent with checkout and remove expired messages promptly. Before expanding distribution through automation, make sure the website supplies an offer the business is ready to honor.
