Anthropic has brought plugins, connectors, agents, products and service partners together in Claude Marketplace, creating a shared destination for teams evaluating tools around Claude. For builders, the opportunity is a discovery channel closer to the point where users choose how to extend their AI workflows.

The September 23, 2026 announcement says more than 2,000 plugins and connectors are available. That number refers to those integrations, rather than a count of agents alone. Anthropic outlines separate routes for integrations built with MCP and Agent Skills, Claude-powered software seeking a listing, and consulting firms joining its partner network.

Discovery moves closer to adoption

The live marketplace separates adding integrations, buying software and finding implementation partners. It also presents search, popular integrations and a trending selection. Its connector and plugin directory provides category filters and submission links.

Those surfaces give a builder several possible ways to be encountered. A user may arrive with a product name, browse a category or examine a highlighted integration. The pages establish that these discovery surfaces exist; they do not establish the ranking rules behind them or the traffic any listing receives.

The ASO analogy is useful, with limits

In our analysis, the parallel with App Store Optimization lies in the decision sequence: find a listing, understand its value, assess whether it fits and begin using it. A marketplace description has to help a prospective user make that decision within a limited amount of attention.

For example, a generic description that promises greater productivity gives a buyer little to evaluate. A description that explains which records an integration searches and what work it supports makes the offer easier to assess. This is a principle of clear product communication, rather than a verified tactic for ranking higher in Claude Marketplace.

The analogy also has boundaries. A plugin installation, a software purchase and an enterprise consulting engagement are different outcomes. Combining them into one conversion measure could obscure which part of a marketplace presence is working.

Build the listing around a concrete job

A builder preparing its public presentation should explain the task the integration helps complete, the information it needs and the limits of its supported workflow. The surrounding documentation should make the same promise. A prospect who follows a listing to a setup guide should find a clear path from the stated use case to a working result.

Technical compatibility is part of that offer, but it does not explain the customer benefit by itself. Buyers still need to understand why they would connect a service and what changes after they do. A concise example can make that relationship easier to grasp than a list of broad capabilities.

Measure useful adoption

For marketing teams, marketplace discovery creates a measurement question: which encounters become useful product use? Where data is available, teams can distinguish visits or enquiries from completed setup, successful first use and continued adoption. Without that evidence, appearing in a directory is a distribution presence, not proof of growth.

Claude Marketplace is a live destination with multiple routes to reach teams using Claude. The editorial opportunity is to treat a listing as a product decision page and evaluate it accordingly. Its commercial value will depend on whether the right users can understand the offer, adopt it and obtain the result it promises.
